Digital Marketing Apprentice


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Digital Marketing Apprentice to join our team. BarkWeb is looking for an enthusiastic, bright and naturally talented Digital Marketing Apprentice. You will be supporting the daily management of our own brand’s digital presence, as well as assisting our work on several client accounts, working on SEO, paid search, social media and email marketing campaigns.

Apprenticeship summary

Salary: Subject to age, will exceed minimum wage, plus bonuses.

Holiday: 21 days per annum

Working week: Mon – Fri, 9am to 5pm (37.5 hours per week)

Expected duration: 15 months

Your role as Digital Marketing Apprentice is to support and assist in the execution of digital marketing campaigns that we run for ourselves and on behalf of our clients. You will be involved in the optimal delivery of campaigns against agreed performance goals – liaising with project leads both client-side and in-house, and communicating with relevant stakeholders, directly reporting to our Digital Marketing Manager.

Responsibilities will include:

Digital Marketing Apprentices are expected to be involved in the implementation of agreed marketing strategy. They are expected to manage the performance of the campaign and ensure it delivers to agreed performance goals and on budget.

You will:

  • Assist in the execution of client SEO campaigns, for example, identifying link building opportunities and implementation plans;
  • Assist in the execution of paid search campaigns on Google Ads and Bing Ads;
  • Assist in the execution of display advertising and remarketing campaigns;
  • Support and assist in the strategy, creation and implementation of social media community engagement and management in-house and for client campaigns, for example, coming up with, and adding to, social media content calendars and new posts on Facebook;
  • Assist in the delivery of email marketing campaigns, and automation workflows.

Typical activities

  • Analysing campaign performance and interpret results to inform change;
  • Track and analyse website traffic flow and provide regular internal reports;
  • Share campaign details with the client and all team members highlighting opportunities for improvement;
  • Brainstorm collaboratively with wider team;
  • Offer creative ideas to develop exciting campaigns and encourage clients to understand the importance of creativity throughout projects;
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Manager in the delivery of search engine optimisation projects;
  • Manage social media posts and advertising campaigns in-house for BarkWeb, and on behalf of a varied client base;
  • Manage paid search campaigns on Google Ads and Bing Ads;
  • Ensure your work is accurate, neat and tidy and submitted in a timely fashion;
  • Seek input from the Digital Marketing Manager on marketing strategy.

Requirements and prospects

This person will have A-C GCSE qualifications in English and Maths, and preferably have A-C GCSE qualifications in ICT and Media.

A-levels are desirable.

You will be expected to have more than just basic marketing knowledge in this role.
