Bespoke Website Design Process
We create bespoke websites as unique as you are. The process we follow for website design combines both traditional and modern techniques to create something that truly captures your aspirations for your new website and represents the essence of every business.
We deliver a specialist service to our clients and every project we work on brings new and individual design challenges, which we both welcome and relish. Your whole design journey with us aims to produce and create unique websites that ultimately make our clients happy and successful!
All projects start the same way. We like to meet in person at our offices in Eastbourne, East Sussex or at your place, wherever you may be based. We've got clients up and down the UK so don't worry if we're not local to each other. We can also run meetings via video calls so we can meet by the virtual powers that be. The initial meeting defines the project and we find out what the project entails, what your website is trying to achieve, the primary purpose and goals and who your key target market are. This information helps us to plan and build the project and look at project timescales and deadlines to achieve your objectives.
Once we've assessed your project requirements, we consider how long our designers and developers want on the project, how much time we think we'll need to get all the content on the website, and to optimise the whole thing up to its eyeballs. We also consider your budgets and how much you want to spend - so we can either go full-fat or slim it right down.
This is then presented to you in a proposal that clearly defines the project and costs. On agreement, the next steps are to sign contracts and issue a deposit invoice for 20% of the total project value. The signed contract basically concretes the deal, giving everyone the security we all need that the project will be committed to by everyone.

Drawing and Wireframes
Using all the information we have gathered so far our designers will plan the structure of your website and create drawings and wireframes which dictate the website architecture, website structure, sitemap and general page layouts. It also defines the navigation of the website and content hierarchy on the page.
This stage serves as a guide for the design process and what you should expect from us when we supply and send our design concepts. It's an essential part of any website project that allows the designer to get right under the skin of the project so they fully understand what is required in creating and planning the new website.
The design is the exciting stage where all the magic happens. Our Web Designer will create the visual concept and design for your new website based on agreed drawings and wireframing.
The concept will be presented as JPEG files and sent via email. We'll also create mobile and tablet versions so you can see how your website will display across viewports. During this phase we take on board all your feedback and amends.
Design is a really important process and essential that you are happy with the design as amendments after this stage are chargeable at our hourly rate @£80 per hour. During the design process we will never bill more than we quoted, even if we go over time. But once approved a line is drawn and we're committed at that point to development. Extra design work can involve altering not just the design but the development of the website and also delay our planned schedule of when the website is planned to go live.
Once the design has been approved, we go into development. At this point we start writing the code and the design becomes fixed. Development typically starts on the homepage and top level pages. Our designer passes our developers the design files which are then developed in our CMS with custom CSS and bespoke template structures. These eventually become the web pages as they will appear on the live version of the website. All development is done on our development codebase, meaning it is not live to the world and won't be indexed by search engines.
The "dev site" becomes the place where you can see your website coming to life. You'll be able to navigate the website as a user would, interact with the design elements, view responsively on mobile and tablet and test any functionality like web forms and signups.
Alterations at this stage can delay the project, protract the design and development process and incur additional costs.
Once we've developed all the unique templates you need for your webpages then we need to populate the dev site with all your content so we can flesh out the bones of your budding new website.
Most of the projects we take on are from well established businesses who are looking for the next step up in website design services. For these clients we generally inherit content - images, text, even meta data and more contextual information for SEO.
Some projects we work with are start-ups. For these clients as we don't have historical archives of content to draw from so we source images and text as well as hand-code all the SEO information such as meta data and schema markup.
Whichever process we go down for website content creation, you will start to see the dev site fill with relevant content and really see how it will look for visitors when it goes live.
SEO means empowering your website to achieve its potential. It means getting traffic to your website for free without having to pay for adverts for relevant terms about what you sell. It's the foundation of the majority of our clients website traffic and helps keep businesses alive all over the world.
However much SEO has a bad rep because of the amount of jargon used and how technical it can sometimes get it is nevertheless a crucial and important element of 99.99% of the websites we've ever worked with.
We take on most of the pain in optimising your new website. We'll make it as easy as possible for you, the client, and we won't hide behind a load of data and reports. What you'll get from us is transparent, easy to understand, and obvious where the value is.
- Testing & Sign OffTesting & Sign Off
Testing & Sign Off
Once the website is designed, developed and optimised we test the dev site in the most commonly used web browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge) ensuring the coding passes CSS and HTML validations and that it displays perfectly across mobile, tablet and desktop viewports.
We also test the functionality of the website ensuring that it is stitched together seamlessly and works as it should.
Once the website has passed our tests and is signed off by you we can go live! This process takes roughly a few hours where we move the website onto a live codebase and point your domain at our IP address. We'll then do the final bits in Google, Bing and Yahoo to ensure you're tracking your website visitors and that the site will be well received by the search engines.
Promoting your new website correctly can have massive benefits to its success, how your products and services are targeted to your customers and will generate new customers for your business. We set up and manage promotional campaigns for clients at the time of your website launch. We provide a full range of digital marketing services which can entail an element of PPC, social media marketing, emarketing, remarketing or retargeting or a combination of any of these techniques.
Digital marketing and promotion is best seen as a long term goal in order to achieve the greatest results for your website. We will provide monthly analyses and reporting so you can see exactly how your campaign is progressing.
We host all websites on our servers as we operate with a bespoke closed-sourced codebase and CMS. This means your website will be more secure and unique as it doesn't use open-source templates, that anyone can get hold of.
Because we host your website, we'll need to be able to add our IP address to your domain.
Our systems and CMS websites are CloseSourced. We give our clients FREE access to our CMS for the lifetime of their contract agreement with us. We constantly update our systems so that they are kept secure and to stop hacking. We also keep secure backups of your website should you have any issues and are in a good position to react quickly and decisively to keep your website operating as normal should any misfortune occur.
