So the idea of time lapse video is not new in this office. We've tested a few ideas, and have some very good ones coming up which we will attempt once the summer months are here.

But one that I saw recently while looking into game development, was the timelapse screen shot of someone who was tasked with making a game from scratch in 48 hours.

What fascinated me, was how you could see their code and the project develop from basic output, to running demos. You could see it growing, more than I expected.

So I sourced some screenshot software called Chronolapse, you can view an article on the software over at LifeHacker. After some initial testing and settings adjustment to get it to record both monitors, I managed to get it working.

Once happy, I attempted to record my progress through my current project which was an extension to our current CMS which would allow it to be used as an EPOS System. I managed to record a big chunk of my day, and you can view the video below. I've taken out sections where Email and customer data was visible, leaving you with just the code and the web pages viewed.

The results show the progression of the project really well, allowing you to see that large lines of code are added at at time, and not the minor adjustments and testing, which was what I had expected. It is also visible that I jump around across different software and web pages, either looking up programming documentation, checking progress on the test web page, or picking apart the design in photoshop to get the correct colour codes and sizes.

I think that a lot of people who are not fully aware of what goes into development will find this of interest, and maybe we can add timelapses of other areas of our office, like Design, Sales or SEO.
