OK, so here we are firmly in the grips of 2013 and we are finally finding a purpose for and now have our own engine to….. Blog.
Firstly an explanation. The word Blog is a portmanteau of two words, web and log. In plainer English it is a website (web) that has a series of entries (log) that are usually in reverse chronological order (newest at the top).
Generally effective blogs have been created with focussed (vertical) content and are written by scribes who are usually expert in their fields (or hold strong options). This therefore attracts visitors effectively for the subject matter. Topics are infinite and vary from particle physics to cupcakes and everything in-between.
The part of the internet space that we are usually concerned with is predominantly commercial. We exist as a Company to make money, pay our employees, feed our children and allow us luxuries such as dogs, guinea pigs, fish and according to my three princesses a future requirement for cats…
As such we a constantly helping our clients improve their web presence, make them more relevant and attract them more custom.
How come we have started to blog now?
Firstly, we have not blogged in the past is because of my ‘demand’ for content that we create to be relevant to what we do, enlighten and or entertain the reader and not just be a load of rubbish that may have a beneficial effect on our Google rankings (but would waste the readers’ time).
Secondly, we should also consider the fact that we haven’t had or made the time previously (a very common issue).
Thirdly, as a bespoke web application Company we really haven’t wanted to use some of the admittedly excellent tools available but now have a blogging engine built onto our own CMS that is being used effectively by our clients.
As with all content; be it a new website, a revised website or revisiting the content of a website, it is essential to set an aim, a purpose, a reason. Our reason? Simple, the aim of our blog is unashamedly to gain more exposure for our business whilst making sure that we inform and if possible entertain at the same time.
Bye for now, I hope I have been relevant and not wasted your time...
